First Impression: Fujifilm XT1 and a Rokinon 12mm

I was looking at adding a wide angle lens to my lens collection. I was looking at the Fuji 14mm f2.8 when I saw this Rokinon 12mm f2 lens and what caught my eye was the price difference over five hundred dollars. Having used Rokinon 8mm fisheye before and having been impressed with the build and image quality for the price, I figured I would give this lens a try and see how it performed. I took the Fuji XT1 and the 12mm to downtown Denver for a little spin.  For the short time I was using it, the 12mm seems to be a nice sharp lens even wide open with minimal distortion. I did notice some chromatic aberration, but that is easily corrected in post. The one drawback is no autofocus but, being a wide angle and Fuji’s great EVF on the XT1 with focus peaking, it really is easy to focus. I will be using this lens over the next few weeks and will be posting a full review.
